Increase your boundaries, increase your output
You've got a problem.
It's that you think you're so awesome that you can reach your goals without having to change your lifestyle.
You keep watching Netflix and spending your weekend in unfocused work... "here or there" work.
But that's not going to cut it.
If you want to level up with your productions, you have to cutoff things that don't help anymore.
And the people who are willing to cutoff stuff in pursuit of their goal will be the ones that succeed where you don't.
And its not just you who has that problem... I do too!
To give up sin and live a life of righteousness is what I've been striving to do for the last year or so.
At first it was really tough because I had bad habits and genuinely liked living in my sin.
But as time went on and I increased my boundaries, I got closer to my goal of righteousness.
And with each thing I put a boundary on (laziness, greediness, unjust anger, cursing, lusting etc.)
I got exponentially closer to reaching my goal.
As you increase your boundaries (people you talk to, things you do, consume, watch, read, think, clothes you wear, the habits you have etc.)
Your output towards your goal will increase in proportion to that - not immediately, but over time it will.
The reason you can't is because you have too many things that take away your time and energy to achieve this and really put effort into it.
And that stems from the fact that you're not fully dedicated to your singular goal.
Your spreading your efforts too thin.
2 hours of focused work gets more done than 8 hours of unfocused effort.
When you mentally signup for too many things - like what your favourite sports teams is doing, the upcoming party, random world news...
Heck, even the lives of people who you don't even know that well (social media influencers for example - that includes me!)
Your mind has too many things to focus on and it's not able to execute properly on the few things that you do care about long term!
So you have to make a conscious choice to forgo/cutoff the things that aren't directly helping you reach your goal.
Questions to ask yourself to figure out what to cutoff
1. Am I saying "yes" to too many commitments or requests that don't align with my main goals?
Write down what they are.
Awareness is the first step!
2. What systems or tools can I use to streamline my workflow and reduce distractions?
3. Are there any habits or behaviors that I engage in which pull me away from my main priorities?
4. How much time am I spending on tasks or activities that aren't essential to my main priorities?
Write these down also and mark down how many hours roughly you spend on this.
You'll likely be shocked!
It doesn't have to be everything, and it might not be forever...
But you do have to choose what you will cutoff for what you want to achieve long term.
Generally, around 3 months is a good timeframe for deciding to go "dark" and focus on making big leaps with your goals.
I don't want to spend forever talking about it here but there are a lot of things you can do to effectively goal set and set up your environment for max focus.
It's what we help producers with in our program.
